Our history

Giacomo Tachis

The great oenologist, a legend today, arrived in Sardinia in the early 80s as a consultant to the Consortium of Sardinian Wines and as oenologist of the Cantina Di Santadi, whose President Antonello Pilloni saw him as the right man for the revival of viticulture of Sulcis. And so it began…

Master Tachis began his work in Sardinia and his long collaboration with the Cantina di Santadi, which continued until 2010 when he retired.

At the beginning of the century, after having launched so many successful wines, Tachis embarked on another creation, AGRIPUNICA. His immense experience in the oenological field managed to convince two other Italian viticulture friends and colleagues to join forces to create a company dedicated to the production of high quality wines with an international outlook here in Sardinia.

Marquis Nicolò Incisa Della Rocchetta and Antonello Pilloni, through Tachis, met one evening at dinner in Verona during Vinitaly; the three laid the foundations for a collaboration that immediately proved successful.  The three of them laid the foundations for a collaboration that immediately proved to be successful. They bought two estates, the first already planted with vines in the locality of 'Barrua' in the municipality of Santadi, and the second, much larger, comprising a series of hilly plots in the municipality of Narcao.

At this point, all that was missing was the wine: with the 2002 vintage, Tachis once again put his great skill into practice, what he liked to define (addressing himself) as 'Mescolavin'.

In the field of wine, Sulcis means above all "Carignano" and it was from this precious grape that the red wine Barrua was created, skilfully using small percentages of two other international vines that were very dear to him, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, for the birth of an excellence of Sardinian wines.

This was followed in 2005 by Montessu, which, with a Carignano base of 60%, was supplemented by the usual Bordeaux varieties to create a wine of good complexity and phenolic richness, to accompany Barrua on the international and Italian markets.

Giacomo Tachis was therefore the founder and oenologist, as well as a partner and board member of Agripunica, and every time a bottle of Barrua or Montessu is opened, there is certainly the richness of a territory within it, but also that of a story, the story of a wine genius that is told through the flavours in the glass.

Marquis Incisa Della Rocchetta

The Marquis Incisa Della Rocchetta, an illustrious exponent of the Italian and world wine scene, was in turn the promoter and architect of AGRIPUNICA.

Driven by the curiosity of this new and stimulating challenge in the Sardinian land, he gave a fundamental push for the creation and development of AGRIPUNICA, supplying the considerable management know-how he possesses - elements that immediately paid off for the new company.

The Marquis held the role of Chairman of AGRIPUNICA from its birth in 2002 through to 2017; he currently holds the position of Honorary President, and we are proud to have him as such.

Antonello Pilloni

He has been Director and Vicepresident of AGRIPUNICA since its establishment in 2002.

Antonello Pilloni, President of the Cantina di Santadi, together with Giacomo Tachis and Marquis Nicolò Incisa Della Rocchetta, is the other founding father of AGRIPUNICA. Tireless entrepreneur, preeminent representative of Sardinian viticulture, he was the one who first brought Giacomo Tachis to Sardinia. A profound connoisseur of wine, he has tenaciously pursued the goal of bringing Sardinian wines to compete with the regions of the most ancient wine tradition from the beginning.
